On March 12, undergraduates from the College of Agricultural Engineering carried out a tree-planting activity themed Taking Root in the Land, Serving Agriculture, Rural Areas and Farmers, Building a Green Home Together in the green planting area in front of the Faculty Apartment. The activity integrated labor practice with moral education, enabling students to appreciate the value of labor, foster environmental awareness and strengthen class cohesion while planting saplings. Liao Zhiling, Party Secretary of the college, Zhou Jun, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Dean, Shen Chengbin, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, and undergraduate counselors attended the event.

At the site, students were divided into groups to pick up tools and start planting trees right away. Secretary Liao demonstrated how to compact soil and water newly planted trees, and the students followed suit enthusiastically.
Fu Bingyan from Facility Agriculture Class 2301 shared her experience: "We need to press soil lower in the center and higher around the edges, and water slowly so water can seep deep into the ground. I’ve learned tree planting is more than burying soil — it means taking responsibility for new life."
Going forward, the college will keep advancing labor-based education. Leveraging its academic strengths and resources, it will launch more labor practice and eco-education programs. Students will deepen their understanding of sustainable agriculture through ecological work and technical services, temper their will and improve practical skills, while carrying forward farming traditions and the spirit of hard work.
