From October 12th to 15th, the national finals of the China International College Students' Innovation Competition (2025) were held at Zhengzhou University. The "Seedling Precision and Prosperity: Ushering in a New Era of Precision Seeding and Seedling Cultivation for Increased Rice Yields" project, led by Professor Li Yaoming and his team from our college, clinched the national gold medal in the creative group of the "Youth Red Dream-Building Journey" track.
The project addresses the high seed damage rate, high empty-seedling rate, and inability to meet the agronomic requirements for precision seeding in various rice varieties associated with traditional mechanical seedling cultivation and seeding devices. The team pioneered the 2BYLQ-750 whole-tray pneumatic precision rice seedling cultivation and seeding device, breaking through three core technologies and securing 23 core intellectual property rights. The technology has been selected as a key promotion by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and has been implemented across multiple regions nationwide, covering an area of 500,000 mu. It has contributed to a 12% increase in average rice yield per mu and a 50% reduction in seed usage. With meticulous craftsmanship as their foundation, the project team has sown new hopes for rural revitalization, aided farmers in increasing their incomes through red dream-building initiatives, and their related achievements have been featured in a special report by the "Economic Half-Hour" program on CCTV's Business Channel.
